How to use your COOL.me cool pack safely
- Use the COOL.me ice pack exclusively for cooling food and drinks.
- Keep the ice pack out of the reach of small children.
- Never consume the cooling gel, even if it is food-safe. If you accidentally swallow the gel after damaging the cold pack, consult a doctor immediately.
- Do not alter the product and do not open the ice pack.
Use and storage
- Never put the ice pack in the microwave or oven.
- Do not bring the ice pack into contact with sharp objects as they could damage the ice pack.
- Do not expose the cold pack to extreme heat (over 50°C).
- If the cold pack is damaged and the gel leaks, wash the affected area with water immediately.
- Do not treat the ice pack with aggressive cleaning agents.
Food safety
- Even with the COOL.me cool pack, do not keep perishable food at room temperature for longer than necessary.
- Bear in mind that the ice pack delays the heating of food, but does not replace continuous cooling in the refrigerator for longer periods of time.
- Do not keep particularly sensitive foods (such as raw fish, meat or dairy products) out of the fridge for more than 2 hours, even if you use a cold pack.
Important note
Your COOL.me cool pack is BPA-free and suitable for contact with food. The gel used is non-toxic, but should not come into direct contact with food if the ice pack is damaged.

How long does the COOL.me cold pack keep the cold?
The cooling time depends on various factors, especially the ambient temperature and whether you have pre-cooled your "chilled goods" in the fridge. At a typical room temperature of 22°C, the cool pack will keep food cool for around 4 hours.
Can I also use the cool pack for other cool bags or boxes?
Absolutely! The COOL.me cool pack can be used universally and works in any cool bag or box. Its flat, compact shape makes it particularly space-saving and versatile.
How long do I have to freeze the ice pack?
For optimum cooling properties, freeze the ice pack at -18°C for at least 8 hours. Ideally overnight.
What does the ice pack contain?
The COOL.me cool pack contains a special, food-safe, water-based cooling gel. The material is BPA-free and suitable for contact with food.
Can the ice pack leak?
The COOL.me cool pack is made of high-quality, hard-wearing material and is specially sealed to prevent leakage. If used properly and without damage, leakage is virtually impossible.
Why should I have an extra ice pack?
A spare or additional rechargeable battery offers you several advantages: You can use one cold pack while the other is already in the freezer ready for the next use. You can also use two cool packs at the same time for particularly long trips or in high temperatures to increase the cooling capacity.
Why is food refrigeration so important?
Bacteria multiply particularly quickly in food at temperatures between 7°C and 60°C - this range is also known as the "danger zone". Constant cooling with your COOL.me cool pack keeps your food below this critical temperature for longer, which inhibits the growth of bacteria and increases food safety.

How to use your COOL.me cool pack
Prep your grill box
- Take the COOL.me ice pack out of the packaging.
- Before using it for the first time, rinse it with lukewarm water and dry it thoroughly.
- Place the ice pack horizontally in the freezer compartment or freezer (-18°C) for at least 8 hours before use.
- For best cooling properties, leave the ice pack in the freezer overnight.
Application
- Take the frozen ice pack out of the freezer.
- When using in the GRILL & CHILL lunch box: Insert the ice pack into the recess provided in the lid.
- For use in other cooler bags: Place the cool pack on top of or under the food to be cooled. For maximum cooling performance, place the bladder directly on the food packaging.
After use
- Clean the ice pack after use with lukewarm water and, if necessary, with mild washing-up liquid.
- Dry it thoroughly.
- Put it back in the freezer as soon as possible so that it is ready for the next use.
Pro tip
For particularly long-lasting cooling performance, use two cool packs: one in the lid of the GRILL & CHILL lunch box and one under the food. This way, your food is cooled from above and below and stays fresh for up to 50% longer!

Place the cool pack on the grilling grate inside the GRILL & CHILL Lunchbox. Since the cool pack won't have direct contact with the items being chilled and cold air naturally sinks, this placement is ideal. It guarantees even and effective cooling and prevents freezer burn..
For Targeted Cooling:
Place the cool pack on the bottom of the lunchbox—directly under sensitive foods like cold cuts, fish, meat, or yogurt. This way, these foods stay fresh and maintain their quality. To prevent freezer burn, it's best to wrap sensitive foods in a thin kitchen towel.
Extra Tips for Best Results:
- Optimal Pre-cooling: Place the cool pack in your freezer or deep freezer for at least 24 hours before use (ideally at -18°C to -22°C) so it's perfectly frozen. For maximum cooling performance, you can pre-chill the entire lunchbox along with the cool pack.
- Pre-chill Food: It's best to cool all food beforehand and then pack it into the lunchbox.
- Ice-cold Drinks: If you want to enjoy your drinks ice-cold later, put them in the freezer for about an hour beforehand.
- Double Cooling Power: For longer trips or especially hot days, we recommend placing a second cool pack in the lunchbox.
- Keep Cold Longer: For even more cooling performance, wrap the cool pack in aluminum foil. The foil reflects the cold and slows down the thawing process.
- In Extreme Heat: If it's over 30°C in summer, your cool pack will melt three times faster than at 20°C. So, in mid-summer, it's best to bring two cool packs to maintain the cold chain.
